Anger is information — read it before you act on it
Anger is neither toxic nor virtuous. It's data. Most patients have been taught to do the wrong thing with it.
Two camps confuse most people. One says anger is poison and must be suppressed. The other says it must be expressed freely. Decades of research say both are wrong.
What anger actually is
A signal that a boundary, value or need has been violated. Like physical pain, it is information about damage — not a verdict on the other person and not a license to act.
The third path
Feel it fully. Delay action by 90 seconds (the chemical wave peaks around then). Identify the boundary or need underneath. Communicate the need calmly and concretely. Repeat as needed.
