Sunday scaries in India — what your dread is trying to tell you
Sunday dread is data. The mistake is treating all data as destiny.
Sunday evening anxiety is common in demanding work cultures. It can mean ordinary transition stress, poor boundaries, burnout, or a genuinely harmful job. The clinical task is to read the signal accurately.
What I see clinically
Mild Sunday unease lifts once Monday begins. Burnout-linked dread starts earlier, affects sleep, and comes with cynicism or exhaustion. Toxic-workplace dread often includes fear of a specific person, message or humiliation. The body usually knows the difference before the mind admits it.
What to do this week
Run a Sunday audit before dinner, not at midnight: top three tasks, first action for each, one boundary for the week, one recovery block. Then close the laptop. Add a sensory transition — walk, shower, music, prayer, cooking — so the body receives an ending.
When to get help
If Sunday dread ruins every weekend, causes insomnia or panic, or is tied to workplace mistreatment, seek help. Therapy can help separate what to regulate, what to negotiate and what to leave.
